CHINESE LANGUAGE PROGRAM
In this class, students learn in a loving environment to fully develop their intelligence and abilities, discover and cultivate their interests and talents, and establish their sense of self-worth. We use well-planned and meaningful lesson plans to ensure that students experience life to the fullest and appreciate the pleasures of learning. In particular, DASH provides students with a “completely Mandarin” learning environment in which all our teaching and communication are in Mandarin. In particular, we place great emphasis on the following:
Linguistic Intelligence
In our unique setting (i.e., a “completely Mandarin” learning environment) and with guidance from our patient teachers, students naturally develop a habit of communicating in Mandarin, acquiring the ability to speak it as if it were their mother tongue and express themselves in the language.
Logical/Mathematical Intelligence
By engaging in games, role-playing, nature appreciation, and many other activities, students have ample opportunities to practice and develop their mathematical and logical abilities.
Musical Intelligence
Through songs, games, rhymes, and music appreciation, among many others, students develop their musical abilities and interests.
Spatial Intelligence
With various toys designed for visual stimulation, art books, and colorful handicraft materials, among many others, students familiarize themselves with the concept of space and become more observant of their surroundings.
Physical/Kinesthetic Intelligence
By using playpens designed specifically for developing children’s physical/kinesthetic intelligence, students train various muscle groups and enhance their physical coordination.
Environmental IntelligenceBy analyzing and playing with diverse objects from nature, students develop their observation skills, which in turn can cultivate their scientific curiosity and appreciation of the environment.
Interpersonal Intelligence
Through role-playing, story-telling, and various group activities, students develop their interpersonal skills, including those related to communication, coordination, and cooperation. In particular, they are taught the importance of loving and appreciating one another.
Intrapersonal Intelligence
All our educational activities are designed to help students learn more about themselves, which allows them to love themselves more and become more self-confident.
CHINESE LIFE SKILLS PROGRAM
Living a full and rewarding life requires each individual to acquire a vast range of knowledge. However, today’s children are typically preoccupied with television shows, computer games, and social media sites. This is especially true of children in the Philippines, who tend to be under care of hired help. They rarely do things on their own, and thus, they have few opportunities to acquire valuable life skills. This makes them vulnerable to unnecessary and costly mistakes, which in turn can reduce their self-confidence and induce an irrational fear of various challenges they will certainly face in the future.
At Dash, we use more than one hundred games and activities carefully designed to develop a wide range of critical life skills under a relaxing and enjoyable setting. We use multifaceted curricula focusing topics such as daily life skills (e.g., wearing clothes, tying shoes, cooking, and sewing); common knowledge; science and scientific experiments; basic budgeting and time management skills; arts and crafts; multi-media software packages; music and dance; and culture.
In particular, as in the Chinese Language Class, DASH provides students in the Chinese Life Skills Class with a “completely Mandarin” learning environment to ensure that they acquire not only critical life skills but also Mandarin proficiency.
